Almond eyes followed the nonchalant movement of the one before him, those precise dance moves assertively popping sinew into the next move, only to roll out of the lock in a fluid-like motion. He loved the way he danced - he loved dancing - he loved dancing with him. But more than anything, he loved the way freedom seemed to overwhelm the joints that conjoined in parallel matrimony with the appendages that moved in unison to the beat before them, around them, inside of them. He simply loved being up here on the stage, and especially with Eunhyuk at his side.

It was a swelling sense of pride and joy that lodged into his chest and created a smile to escape the corners of ample lips, turning them upright into that ear to ear grin that was just too much to resist. Donghae turned, spun, locked into place with his vision divert onto the auburn-haired boy just nigh to him, also in poise for the move that followed suit of the momentary pause. It wasn't the best thing to think of their friendship in such a situation of performing, but he couldn't exactly help himself. The weight of the way Eunhyuk turned and smiled, the way he bent to the side and brought his arms up in full circle with the choreography, the way he seemed to be having the time of his life releasing everything onto the stage, was clouding the brunette's mind.

And that was several months ago.

China, as beautiful as the country was, had its lasting effects on the new Super Junior M group. For one - they missed Korea and those they left behind momentarily. Eunhyuk being one of them. And now, here, sitting at the edge of the hotel bed with his hands clasped over his face, Donghae felt that painstakingly aching weight push down against him again. He missed him. He missed him terribly.

International calls were a bitch - and while the manager swore to allow it, Donghae couldn't be promised that every time he called he'd get that tenor voice to pick up and tell him how things were. He longed for some closure, at least.

What am I doing..? He's fine, I just need to focus on our work as of now, that's all. Super Junior M needs all of us in focus, I can't be selfish and think on- His thought was cut off, the phone near to the nightstand went off in a ringtone that he knew wasn't just set for anyone in particular. Ecstatic, the brunette pushed the phone against his ear and smiled profoundly, chiming quickly into the receiver. "Hyung?" There was a long pause - and then that voice.

"Ah, Donghae-sshi. How are you?" Eunhyuk would ask.
"Good! How's everything there?" He'd reply quickly, afraid to lose the line...
"They're good, we're working hard. Did you eat?" Always asking that, always so concerned.
"Yeah - did you?" And he'd keep the conversation rolling.
"Not yet." Eunhyuk would reply, rousing a soft scoff from the brunette male.
"What? Well go eat - don't be lazy. " They'd both laugh, they'd both smile, they'd..

Never have that kind of conversation. At least not tonight, not now.

Donghae snapped back to, shaking that brunette head and turned his attention toward the nightstand where his phone sat. Damn, just a daydream, he needed to stop thinking so much on the subject of his friend. He needed some food - perhaps to indulge himself in the company of the other members. Standing from the bed and not actually bothering to grab his phone, Donghae made his way out of the door and toward the rooms of the other Super Junior M members. When the door would shut and click to a lock - his cell phone rang, chiming loudly an oh so familiar tone.

~~~
In a minimum of five minutes, Donghae had intruded fully on Henry's room, peeking in without much warning before busting the door open with the shove of his foot and proclaiming loudly that he was hungry, and he wanted to eat. "HENLI. LET'S GO EAT!" And to his delight, the violin wonder was all too eager to oblige. One down, five to go. Those five were crammed into one room, lost in a game of cards and seemingly to have already ordered whatever room service they wanted at the time. Donghae pushed the door open, Henry followed suit of him, and the two were left to stand there and stare at the already ordered food and the radiant laughter that would come from the members throwing down their hands, grinning at each other, having so much fun. The brunette forced a smile and managed to maintain a front that could bely the glisten in his eyes, the same ones that moved to lock on Henry. “Well, suppose me and Henry will just be back later then.” And with that, he waved them off and made a grab for Henry’s wrist, dragging him off out of the room without giving him a chance to protest if he was going to.
Donghae turned to him as soon as they moved away from the room. “Henry, what do you want to eat?” Of course, Henry shrugged and seemed to think about it for a moment, suggesting then that they try to walk around town and find a late night restaurant or order out place they could pick something up at. “Alright, let’s do that then.” Henry pulled out his phone, notified their manager, and set out with Donghae beside him.
He could feel the tension that was emitting from the brunette, from the center of some under developing problem that Henry had a feeling would eventually come out one way or another. He tilted that auburn head down toward his feet as they shuffled down the sidewalk, hands deep in his pockets for a lack of anything better to do with them. “Donghae, are you alright? You seem bothered by something. Is it work?”
Donghae, as taken aback by the sudden question Henry asked him, turned his head and stared blankly for a moment in time before regaining his composure and answering softly. “No, Henry, I’m okay. Thanks for asking though.” And that was that.
They walked for sometime, neither saying much of anything, but both sufficiently taking in all that was around them. The overcast of night life and lights, the beats of nearby nightclubs, the bustle of late night traffic, and the scurry of people crowding the subways and sidewalks in attempts to get home after a long day at the office. Somehow Donghae could feel their pain, but at the same time, he didn’t try to put himself in their shoes. He just knew in comparison, what hard work and being away from home could exactly do to a person.
“Do you like China, Donghae?” This question almost hit him twice as hard as the one before it. Henry sure was hitting him in all the wrong places.
“Of course I do…It’s really beautiful here. And the group is really awesome – the fans are amazing and the food’s really great! I really like it here, really. It’s like a vacation! I’d have a summer home up here if I could. Really, it’s wonderful here I’m so excited to see everything and see our fans an-“
“Donghae.” Henry stated, putting his arm suddenly out to stop the other male from moving forward at all. Those gentle eyes, god those eyes, peered silently into the other almond ones – and held them captive for a second. If Henry said anything at all, it was all in his eyes, ripping through Donghae’s stomach and causing every fiber of his being to shudder.
“…I miss home.” Donghae whispered reluctantly.
“Look, there’s a restaurant that’s open. Let’s go eat there, okay?” Henry’s hand clasped the other male’s shoulder, squeezed affectionately, and nudged him toward the shop. They sat down; both boys silent until the waitress came to them and they ordered what it was that seemed to best fit their interests at the time. It was then that Donghae turned his attention toward Henry, stared for a moment, and broke into a smile.
“How’d you know…?” Chopsticks prodded at the kimchi that was in front of him. Henry grinned.
“..I figured you’d want to come to a Korean restaurant. And I like kimchi, too.” His own chopsticks nudged around the kimchi before picking at pieces and placing them past ample lips. In the process of chewing his hand moved to cover his mouth, head bowed at the time being to continue eating. Donghae did the same – and neither spoke for some time. It was actually Henry that spoke then, lifting his head for a second to stare at the brunette. When Donghae felt the weight of a stare against him and lifted his own head, the auburn haired boy’s head was bowed down again. Eyebrows furrowed in thought for a moment, before gradually he let his own head back down to a bow to finish eating. He glanced up. Ha.
Henry was staring. “Ah, sorry.” He laughed softly, shoving a piece of kimchi into his mouth to better hide the smirk that was growing along the side of his face.
“Why were you staring?” Donghae worriedly wiped at the side of his mouth and chin, afraid a bit of kimchi remains had stuck to his face or he was accidentally slobbering everywhere or something like that happened. He scoffed slightly and found a napkin, lifting it to his lips.
“Oh, no nothing.” Henry grinned. “Donghae – why don’t you tell me about why you miss home so much, maybe it will make you feel better.” The violin wonder stared up then, set his chopsticks down beside the small bowl of almost completely devoured kimchi and leaned slightly back upward so that his back wasn’t completely and utterly slouched over and develop some sort of scoliosis or something like that. He wiped his mouth with the napkin.
“Ah, Henry, don’t get me started…” He paused, shoved the last piece of his kimchi into his mouth, and chewed thoughtfully. When he swallowed he wiped his mouth and leaned back in his chair. “Home? I miss a lot of things about home, Henry. I miss the hyungs, I miss my family, I miss the land. I’m glad there’s at least the food here.” A small laugh escaped the both of them. Henry decided it was best if they left the restaurant now – least some deranged fan find their location via satellite somehow and track them down. You never know when it comes to the fangirls, man. They left a tip as well as the bill, and made for the door.
It was Henry that suggested they take a walk, Henry that decided Donghae should talk to him about why he missed those things, Henry that thought it was the coolest thing to walk in the park at night with arms pinned to one another in fear that they could, for a moment, get separated in this dark park and become lost forever. Donghae tilted his head up toward the dark sky and squinted against the stars before him, pulled in his bottom lip in a moment of thought. “…The hyungs are everything to me. Super Junior, Super Junior M, we are all one family…and it’s easy to miss those family members you know, especially when you are away from them for so long, it’s hard to work when you can’t think properly.” Those hands were shoved deep into his jeans.
“But you have some family here then, you know. We’re all trying our best, Donghae. I miss my family too – I miss my friends too – but I can get through my work and my day knowing there are still people all around me that care about me. Whether it is you guys or the fans, I’m happy to say I’m proud to be a member of this group. I don’t know the other members as well as you do, but I’m sure they are amazing people to miss. I hope I’ll get to know them better one day. But for now, Donghae, don’t worry about not missing them.” A smile crept against those lips and his arm found its way around the brunette’s shoulders, a soft hug giving to him as they continued to walk together. “Just know they’re proud of you for coming here and spreading the Super Junior name.”
This kid was a god sent. He was amazing at lifting the brunette’s spirits, was completely hypnotizing when those little moments he spoke. That speech being so sweet, something you ears were overjoyed to hear. Every word seemed to fit with the situation, everything he said calmed him and cleared his head. Donghae was thankful for someone like Henry – was glad he was here, arm around him, smiling at him like a little kid would after winning a game. He was truly an amazing individual.
“Henry, can you sleep in my room tonight?” Those eyes slid to the corners, focusing on the violinist for a moment to see his initial response. Was it so wrong to want company? Misery loved company – as much as he didn’t want to admit he was miserable. He couldn’t blame China, he loved China really, he just missed his home more.
“Yeah, I will. You have two beds right?” He lifted those eyebrows.
Donghae laughed, shoving the other off of him and away from him as if he had just attempted to cop a feel or something. “Haha! Don’t be stupid, of course I do! What you thought we would sleep in the same bed?! Ha.” Then again, he did with Eunhyuk.
Oh, Eunhyuk.
It stabbed him, the pain then, aching a dull throb in the depths of his chest somewhere. He swallowed hard, forcing a smile, and walked all the way back to the hotel with his heart in his stomach.
1 unread voice message.
Donghae? Call back when you can okay?
I’ve got something to tell you.
I miss you.
Come home.
Okay. So how did you like it!? ;O I know, I know, nothing good happened yet…but I did a lot of foreshadowing. xD! Also~ Nice implications of Henry x Donghae, eh? xD! Heehehe.. I’m so bad. >//// I love the unread voice message…who could it be from!? Well of course you all know.. @_@; I’m bad at hiding things. So what will happen now? Will Eunhyuk finally call him?! Will Donghae EVER listen to his voice mail?! Will he call whoever it is back?! FIND OUT NEXT TIME. xDD
I’m so cheesy.
