Harddrive failure... (Jul 14, 2008 9:45 am)

Got into work and my computer harddrive failed over the weekend. No warnings, just decided to choke and die! Made me realize how unexpected these things can happen. It was a BRAND NEW computer too, not even two weeks old!

The worst thing about this whole fiasco is that I lost a day of work. Most of my work is backed up on the shared server, however this project I was working on was not defined yet so I didn't have it backed up. At least only a day though, and I have a printout so I can at least reproduce from that.

So I'm back to old faithful, the Little Engine that Could, the Dinosaur- slow and steady computer! Well... at least THIS one has lasted me since 2006. Even though it is slow, I don't have to worry about it eating up work that I won't be able to recover. *crosses fingers*

I'm glad I bought that extended warranty on my home computer now.

Cheap New Shoes (May 19, 2008 2:39 pm)

I went out of my way to not plan too much for this past weekend, I needed to rest- the calm before the storm and I know next weekend is going to be crazy and exhausting and AWESOME.

Anyways- I love to share shopping experiences where I get really crazy good deals. So here is my latest good luck moment that shows someone up there likes me just a LITTLE bit...

I was at the Southshore shopping area this last Saturday to do the regular grocery shopping and had to get some stuff for the bunnies for while we're gone, our neighbors will be looking after them.  Anyways, I decided to get my car washed since it was super nasty and dirty.  And so while it was being washed I was gonna walk over to the Wallgreens to get superglue. Anyways I got totally sidetracked by a bunch of tables outside the Big 5 Sporting goods store. They were having a MAJOR clearance on all these tennis shoes and random stuff.  Now- I have been meaning to buy new tennis shoes for ages now. My current ones have holes in the toes, but I haven't been able to cough up the money- tennis shoes are so goddamn expensive. So I went to see if they had anything in my size.

I TOTALLY lucked out! It was still early so not many people had found the clearance yet, I got some cute new tennis shoes that were in my size, priced down from $60 to $17.  BRAND NEW! OMFG I wanted to cry with joy.  I also bought some slip on tennis shoes, great for casual wear indoors and stuff, and I even bought a pair for Josh too, I bought about $180 worth of new shoes for $60... I LOVE BIG 5!

I have no idea why those shoes were sooo cheap, probably old stock they wanted to get rid of? I wore my new shoes today thinking maybe they would rub wierd or something, but nope- super comfy and cushy! They're pink and white- but I don't care about the color, as long as they are functional.  Josh's were black and white- not bad design either.

YAY FOR NEW SHOES!!

Wedding Countdown (May 15, 2008 9:03 am)

Well my wedding is just around the corner! All the anticipation is building! I am getting really excited and a little nervous! But I'm sure everything will be ok.  I think the only thing Josh is scared about is the first dance, but he's been doing great! We have another lesson today and one on Tuesday.  Now we just need to find time to practice inbetween!

The days seem to be slowing down. It's probably just the anticipation build-up.  But I've been trying to get things semi wrapped up at work and hand off things to the other designer here so he can take care of things while I'm gone.  At least the big project got released on time (Yay for create your own profile background!)

I also CAN'T WAIT FOR THE HONEYMOON! We'll be in Kauai, home of the PukaDog... I've been raving to everyone I know about the PukaDog... It's the best hotdog in the world!  I always have to explain to people what a PukaDog is, but here... you need a visual... This is from www.pukadog.com

They put a hole in the bun and toast it from the inside on a hot stake, then they put the hawaiian relish inside like mango, papaya, banana, Guava, Pineapple, or coconut and then you have different mustards to choose from but I always choose the Lilikoi.  And the finishing touch is the polish sausage that varies from mild to super spicy hot! SO GOOD!

Today was an interesting day.. (Mar 27, 2008 5:27 pm)

Today was an interesting day... My coworker mentioned that he'd gone to see a chiropractor because of back problems he was having and I have been dealing with this neck pain for like three weeks now and it hasn't really gotten any better. By the end of the day every day it's so bad it hurts to turn my head... anyways- I called them up and they were able to squeeze me in for an 8:15 AM appointment.

Turns out, my neck was so stiff I guess it gave the doctor cause for alarm, and they took Xrays. Apparently, my neck vertebrae are not aligned the way they should be. He showed me the curve of a normal spine, which has three distinctive curves from the bottom to the top. well, instead of curving outward at the top like it should, mine just goes straight out in a line. Basically... it should look like ) but instead it looks like /

>< He said it's from leaning forward at the computer and it's the sort of thing that has gradually been done over the course of the last 10 years of my life most likely... By the end of the day when I get tired my head tends to fall forward, and the weight of it is being supported in all the wrong places. The discs inbetween the vertibrae in my neck are getting pinched from the weight to the point now that they can't take it any more and cause some acute pain... Normally the weight should be distributed back further on the bones and NOT the cartilage inbetween the vertibrae.

So he cracked me in places I've never heard crack before, and it feels much better- but that's the start of it. I feel kind of sore now but that's apparently also normal. I have to go in again on Monday to get more treatment and maybe figure out a better way to sit or train myself to sit so that I can get mobility in my neck again.

I try to sit ramrod straight in my chair too and not slouch too much, but I guess even then I don't realize that I let my head fall forward. Ugh- first time I feel like I'm getting old ;;
