As I might have mentioned, I painted the walls to the roof of my new apartment a few days ago, I have a bit more to do, but I decided to wait and see what we have to move out.  The painting is in a narrow hallway, and will likely get scuffed up when they move out the old washing machine, etc., so I will just have to paint over the scuffs.

I also did a lot of work in the bathroom today.  The outlet was not installed.  Doug had duc-taped over the bare wires in the hole so they wouldn't get wet.  I put my high school electricity class knowledge to good use, and pulled all of that out and installed a covered bathroom outlet ($4).  I also fixed the leaky toilet (and broke the toilet insides in the process, so I had to buy new ones ($7 + $5 for tools).  The toilet innards are made of some cheap cheap plastic!

The bathroom mirror was also far too low.  It gave me a good view of my chest, but unfortunately, not my face.  So I had to buy a cheap drill and drill some holes/taps in the tile and move that up about 10 inches.

I also have free internet from the school, but had to hunt around and figure out the IP address numbers to make a connection with the school's network.

Lastly, I installed a new phone.  The phone number will eventually be changed to my office number, so if someone calls my office, it will ring at my home.  I bought a cheap Chinese phone for about $14, which looks like an old-fashioned phone, but with buttons.  I installed it on the side of an old crappy cabinet in the living room.

I'm already loving my new place, although I still haven't moved much in yet!  I have a few weeks to complete the move.
It was a busy day, but I got a lot done!

I overdid it yesterday while exercising, so I took today off.  I will exercise tomorrow instead, but lightly.

Douglas left for vacation, so he left me the keys to my future apartment, which I will be moving into fully in a few weeks.   For the past few days, I have been painting the walkway where the washing machine is.  It is just bare cement, so I wanted to cover it with something bright.  Douglas also screwed shut nearly every window in the place.  So I'll be taking out screws and brackets.  I guess he was paranoid of people trying to break in or something.  When I arrived for the first time the other day, the entire walkway to the washing machine was dripping damp.  Water was streaming down the walls, because there was nowhere for all of the humidity to go.  He had screwed all of the windows shut!  Luckily, he must have done all of that recently, because it doesn't look like there was much time for mold to build up.

I'll take some photos of the new place soon.

It was a nice day today.  I went to the Suwon Korean traditional folk village.
My friend Christian and I shot a bunch of video with his Sony HDV camcorder.  I'll post a video in the next few days, after I edit something.  I will post several more photos in the Photos section, as well.

I haven't done much of anything the past few days, except exercise.  I did meet my teacher friend, Sally last night to watch a movie.  We just hang out sometimes as friends.  We watched the movie, "Blood Diamond" with Leonardo DiCaprio.  It was good, but violent/disturbing.

No plans for tonight.  I am just doing laundry today.  The guppies in my fish tank had babies.  They usually don't last long, though.  They are so small, and either get eaten or die somehow.

Not feeling so well the past... (Jan 18, 2007 12:16 am)

Not feeling so well the past few days.  Feeling lonely and down.  I have too much open time on my hands, although I am keeping busy with exercise and Korean study.

I went to Tway-Gay-Rho today.  That's not a gay bar.  It's a street near Myondong where lots of motorcycle shops are.  I noticed that they don't have many interesting motorcycles anymore.  I think the internet sites have pretty much killed them.  People sell their bikes for almost 1 to 2 thousand dollars less than what you can pay to buy from a private individual on the internet.  The few interesting sportbikes they had were grossly overpriced.

I will go out with my friend Tae-il tonight.  It's the first time I've seen him since he got married almost 2 months ago.
