I spent today at work.  I had to teach my afternoon class, then spent the rest of the evening finishing off my grading for the semester.  I entered most of the grades, but there is a slight computer glitch that I have to ask the school to fix for me.  Grades are locked into a bell curve pattern, but my classes aren't supposed to be.

I rented a really cute animated movie last night called, "Monster House."  Wow, the animated characters are really beginning to look realistic!

Oh, I was sad to find that the small male turtle (Chee) bit off the female turtle's (Kim) little tail.  All that was left was a bloody stump!  Ick!   I read on the internet that this is sometimes common, so I separated them and put Kim in the small tank for a while until she heals.

I'm sorry I haven'... (Dec 18, 2006 4:26 pm)

I'm sorry I haven't written much lately.  I am now finished with regular classes, and figuring grades (a daunting task).  I have also begun teaching a winter class every Monday through Friday from 1 to 4.  It's really an odd class, because it's Freshman English, but every person in there is either a Junior or a Senior.  The class lasts for 3 weeks, plus some holidays off in between.

We had some snow on Sunday.  Quite a bit, actually (for Seoul) but it mostly all melted in an hour or two.

Here is a close-up photo of Zilla.  I am pretty sure the turtle is a she.  They eyes look really interesting, and camouflaged.  Click the photo to enlarge it.

Here are my three turtles sunning themselves.  Kim and Chee are in the front, and Zilla is the big one in the distance.

I had to go to Cheonngye-Chon to buy a new heater for my fish tank (the old one was damaged by Godzilla).  I got one, along with some guppies for zilla to chase around/eat.  They figured out really quick that they should hide between the big rocks.  I was quite perturbed, because the fish tank heater (a special bottom heater) has a Chinese plug on it -- not a Korean one.  One I installed the thing, it wouldn't fit in the plug outlet.  Gosh, I tell you, it's one thing or another when buying from small store merchants (buyer beware).  She knew full-well that it was a Chinese plug, but the box appeared to have been opened, and like lightning, she ripped the box open to show me the product.  I think she actually opened it to hide the fact that it had been returned before (probably because the plug wasn't a Korean one).  They are VERY VERY sly at small shops here.  She sent me out the door with it -- not saying a thing.  So I had to go to the electrical store and try to find an extension converter.  The contraption they came up with cost me another $2.50, and my time.  Ugh.

My landlord woke me up this morning, and came to fix my leaky toilet.  He actually came and fixed my faucets yesterday (the wrong thing).  There was a miscommunication, and I guess he thought the faucet was leaking anyway.  I had the toilet turned off, so he didn't see that leak.  Anyway, they're all fixed now.  I have to hurry and shower, then go to work for a lunch meeting.  Also, I need to write two tests.

I added some photos of MJ at her work party. They look really nice.
