Sango! at Mile Long, Makati

 
 

Sango Master Cheeseburger (P98)

I first read about Sango! from bogchinoypi, then heard about it from a friend, and later on read about it again in Anton's blog. Since I was in the neighborhood of Mile Long yesterday I decided to swing by the self-proclaimed "burger master" to pick up some lunch.



As far as non-fast-food-made-for-you burgers go, Sango doesn't have as much variety in toppings as the Brothers Burgers and Hotshots of the world (who have all sorts of meats and cheese to pile on their burgers), but they do have a pretty varied menu:

Hamburger Burger (don't you love these Japanese?) - P50
Chicken Burger - P75
Fish Burger - P75
Teriyaki Burger - P80
Tonkatsu Burger - P80
Kimpira Rice Burger - P85
Master Double Cheese Burger - P148



I got myself a "Master Burger" (P88), which is a juicy and slightly crumbly beef affair topped with their secret meat sauce, and a large order of french fries (P48), which you'll like if you enjoy oversized mealy and not overly crispy fries. I also ordered a Goobah Salad (P58), a light salad of carrots, onions, corn drizzled with a sesame dressing, and which I personally liked because we don't eat enough vegetables (fries don't count!).

Because I was on a solo mission and didn't have other people with me that I could coerce into ordering other items from the menu, a return visit is in order! The rice burgers piqued my interest, and having only tried the ho-hum rice burgers in McDonald's I'm keen to try Sango!'s.

Word to the fussy - their ventilation is terrible and if you plan on dining in, be ready to smell like you actually cooked your own meal over the grill.

The place really caters to the Japanese community so there are a lot of Japanese reading materials instead of your usual inquirer newspaper and other magazines.

Interesting concept of having an LCD screen showing Japanese shows or anime cartoons to attract the family.
