Acquired Taste Music (Sep 11, 2009 1:41 am)
[EUPHORIA]
For more than 5 years now, I have spent endless hours upon hours scouring the Internet for very deep, underground, dark, mysterious forms of music...
More than 5 years ago, I discovered a genre of music that really changed my perspective on music altogether; Electronica. At first, I had my hands filled with very basic types, radio Electronica, and a few Euro techno tracks, nothing that didn't excite me to world's end... (ontop of classic rock, technical metal, metalcore, southern hardcore rock, blues rock, classical, and a little rap)
About 2 years ago, I stumbled upon a genre known as Progressive Trance, that was in circulation through a European radio station known as Armin Van Buuren's A State of Trance. It was very uplifting and very expressive, except that it had an ultimate twist to the style; progression. Progression was something that basic techno tracks lacked, along with the synth pads and reverb effects, etc. etc.
About 1 year ago, I made the greatest discovery of my life... I came upon my very first Progressive Deep House track, known as 'Circulation' by Jay Lumen. It opened up a world of absolute magic and audio engineering masterpiece craftmanship, something that I will never turn back from...
Presently, I have been listening to many many many tracks in the Progressive Deep House genre for about 75% of my total music listening time per day, and the tracks always have me in awe and inspired. I feel as if I am floating away from this world, this existence, and moving onto something terribly magical, something absolutely mysterious and beyond our own recognition and comprehension...
Many people, especially in the U.S. (and the state of Iowa), simply just don't become acustomed to such music. I play it in constant rotation in my room, and most of my roommates think it's junk. To me, it shows so much expression and emotion, and it contains sounds that can never be conceived in everyday occurrences. It's the music of the future, and it always has me wondering, what's out there in our galaxy, our Universe...
I used to get pissed off because I didn't understand why so many people did not come to appreciate such music... but then I told myself, it's simply an acquired taste of music. It's shear beauty cannot be felt and heard by everyone. But to those who do appreciate such sounds are exposed to something absolutely out of this world, a form of music that creates unexplainable things to its audience...
I hope to meet more and more of people who have become truly obsessed with such music as I have, to share a common vision within its absolutely amazing structure, flow, and delivery. It makes me realize that I am a part of an elite, underground group of individuals whom appreciate a higher class of sophisticated music aimed at the future... people may not agree with me, or understand what I'm talking about. I can only say, you can only understand perfectly what I mean, if you listen closely and truly connect with and feel the power and magic behind these tracks... and this mysterious, infamous genre altogether...
Great examples of Progressive Deep House genre tracks:
In Motion (Michael & Levan Remix):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFbxwIOIU9k <-- Listen & wait for ~4:00 time, you'll hear the amazing climax and the soaring, deep synths with crazy reverb and echo... breathtaking
Feelin' Good (Jay Lumen's Dub Mix):
Perhaps my favorite PDH genre track, it mixes amazing Nina Simone vocals with such powerful bass and a catchy beat to an indescribable mix of instruments... the song develops so many moods at once.
Circulation (Jay Lumen's Original Mix):
My first exposure to PDH genre music, similar to Feelin' Good, except it has a more club feel to it with deep synth action and lots and lots of reverb w/ what seems to be a warp pad.
Cloud Cuckoo (Sasha's Mix):
Amazing track with a very unique style, has some very interesting progressions. Extremely worth listening to after hearing several Jay Lumen tracks consecutively.
Faxing Berlin (Deadmau5's Mix):
Extremely heavy on the deep house genre, this still classifies as a PDH track... uses a very unique, distinctive eerie synth in the background of the very groovy beat. Extremely progressive in style, very much recommended!
I Remember (Vocal Mix) by Deadmau5:
Just listen to this song in its entirety and you'll know why I love it so much!
More tracks to come! Hope you enjoy them! If they aren't for you, that's alright, I understand that this music has an acquired taste. But really, if you are exploring this genre, take the time to listen to these songs from 0:01 to finish, because they progressively get better and better until the climax. Hence, why these songs are called progressive... it makes these songs extremely exciting and interesting through the whole time session!

nice concept... but, don't you think that reality and dreaming should be balanced? i think if we keep dreaming too high, which sometimes contradicts with reality, wouldn't it make us hurt and become pessimist, especially when we can't get what we dream of
